Flat season kicks off in style

The Flat season kicked off on Saturday with Doncaster being the talk of the town in the UK. One of Interest coming from Doncaster in the Betway Cammidge Trophy. Perfect Blessings ran a big race & was available at 33/1 in the morning. He came into a little trouble, looking as if he was squeezed a tad whilst the race unfolded. Still managed to hold off Jack Dexter to claim third, but not good enough to pin back the impressive first to last winner, Naadirr relegating favourite, Astaire to second spot.

Meydan held a stunning event topped off with the Dubai World Cup worth a whopping 10 million dollars. The 9 runner affair saw African Story attempt to retain the title after picking up the prize last year, something that has never been achieved before. California Chrome came from the US with a every hope. One race away from achieving the Triple Crown last year, California Chrome was sent off 6/4 favourite & sat on the pace, prominent throughout. However, it wasn't to be, as the world's richest race was won, once again by Saeed bin Suroor. This time in the form of 14/1 shot Prince Bishop. The 8 year old never looked as though he was in the race being hard pushed early out, detached at the back of the field. As the leaders fought it out, William Buick found more from his mount & got up to deny California Chrome & Lea.

Sole Power finally got his head in front in Dubai on his ninth attempt. Delivered perfectly by champion jockey, Richard Hughes for his last ever ride at Meydan. The 7 year old, rolled back the years to beat 4 year old Peniaphobia & dismiss the field. The only Irish trained runner hitting the stage, duly obliged.
