California Chrome Betting Odds for Kentucky Derby 2014

California Chrome is the popular pick to win the 140th Kentucky Derby and has some of the more favorable betting odds. Some future’s pools have California Chrome at 2/1 betting odds and Churchill Downs odds maker Mike Battaglia says that he would give 4/1 or 5/1 betting odds to California Chrome “Right now.” California Chrome’s consistency is what separates this thoroughbred from the rest of the pack. Since the horse is the odds on favorite, you should expect this horse to be bet down in Derby day betting pools.

California Chrome is trained by Art Sherman. California Chrome has won 6 races including the Santa Anita Derby by 5 horse lengths. Some horse racing experts have made comments such California Chrome being “The next Secretariat.”  On ESPN.com, California Chrome has accumulated 150 ESPN.com points including 150 Derby points which more than qualifies the thoroughbred for the Derby. The Kentucky Derby wagering experts at KentuckyDerbyOnlineBetting.com note that California Chrome has won over $1.1 million in earnings and the 3 year old is owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin. Unless there is a last minute change, Victor Espinoza will get the ride on California Chrome in the Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby is the biggest spectacle in horse racing and hundreds of thousands of people will go to Churchill Downs to place their bets. Since California Chrome is expected to be the favorite, there will be a tremendous amount of money on this horse.
